Clarity

I experience a period of frightening clarity in those moments when nature is so beautiful.  I am no longer sure of myself, and the paintings appear as in a dream.

Why there are no answers

In life, rarely are issues black or white, right or left, high road or low... yet it seems as if our country has become extremely positional.

The opposing sides have no interest in finding the middle ground where, quite possibly, the best answers may be found, but instead seem to enjoy digging themselves deeper and deeper into disagreement.

Freedom and time

Once you start to see through the myth of status, possessions, and unlimited consumption as a path to happiness, you'll find that you have all kinds of freedom and time.  It's like a deal you can make with the universe:  I'll give up greed for freedom.

Small miracles

Last week I planted flats of seeds to start my vegetable garden.  I am always in awe of these dull gray and black grains' ability to transform themselves.  In just days, small lettuce shoots and tomato plants poked their heads above the soil into the larger world.  And in a week, they have become small plants

The leap from dormancy to life, rate of growth, the speed of transformation is nothing short of a miracle.  But how often do we ignore the miracles all around us, the miracles in our life?
